Brazil expresses worries over China's renewal of US beef import licenses during the Xi-Trump summit, fearing impacts on domestic cattle prices.
Brazil has voiced concern over China's decision to renew US beef import licenses during the Xi-Trump summit, reported Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
A senior Brazilian government official stated that the move has created anxiety in the sector and could affect domestic cattle prices. China is Brazil's largest beef market, and the existing quota system already reduces competitiveness, the official added.
Bloomberg News reported that China renewed import licenses for hundreds of US beef plants during US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing for talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Brazil fears that this decision could reshape competition in its key export market.
