Cargo ship sank off Karang Jamuang

The "KM KTC 1" was grounded on Oct 5, 2017, a few minutes past midnight north of Karang Jamuang island, north of Surabaya, in position 06'53 "17.8 S 112'44" 05.3 E, after having developed a list to port, the 16 crew members were rescued by patrol boats. The ship which was en route from the Jamrud Port in Tanjung Perak to Perawang, Pekanbaru, Central Sumatra, with a cargo of 3.050 tons limestone remained half sunken off the coast. The cause of the sinking may have been overloading and not appropriate dead weight which was exceeded by the weight of the limestone.
