INDIA's SpiceJet is planning to launch an initial public offering for its SpiceXpress cargo airline

INDIA's SpiceJet is planning to launch an initial public offering for its SpiceXpress cargo airline. Chairman Ajay Singh told Bloomberg during an interview that the company could be listed on a stock exchange within one year. Mr Singh pointed out that India has very few domestic freighter operators. The only major player in the market is DHL's joint venture Blue Dart with a fleet of six Boeing 757s.

SpiceXpress has just taken delivery of its third freighter - a 737-800 Boeing converted freighter - and has a fourth aircraft waiting in the wings. The airline also operates two B737-700 freighters, reported London's Air Cargo News.

The Bloomberg report said that the airline intends to have a fleet of 10 freighters by the year-end.
