CAL Cargo has launched from March 1 a second weekly Liege-Oslo-Tel Aviv cargo flight that is operated by Boeing 747 freighter owing to rising demand for Norwegian seafood in Israel. The new departure is on Fridays, adding 3,500 tonnes of seafood capacity from Oslo airport to Israel annually, London's Air Cargo News reported.

The extra frequency follows on from the launch of services to the Nordic hub in 2017. From Liege airline offers connections from JFK, Atlanta, Mexico City, Tel Aviv and Larnaca.

Avinor cargo director Martin Langaas said: 'We are very pleased that CAL has decided to increase their capacity from the largest freighter hub in Northern Europe. Israel is a significant importer of fresh Norwegian seafood, such as salmon, which requires short shelf life. It's therefore essential that we can facilitate fast and efficient delivery from Norway to Israel in collaboration with CAL.'
