DESPITE signs that the coronavirus outbreak is peaking on mainland China and that symptoms are comparable to a bad case of flu that healthy individuals can fight off, vice-president of marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes Randy Tinseth says the air cargo market is unlikely to grow this year, ignoring the bulls' talk of pent up demand. The world's biggest manufacturer of freighter aircraft previously forecast air freight would grow by one to two per cent this year due in part to the US and China reaching a phase one trade deal, reported Reuters.

'That is going to see pressure as well,' Mr Tinseth told reporters of the US-China deal at the Singapore Airshow.

'If we are not seeing goods travel and airplanes fly that is under pressure. I think it is going to be really tough to see the cargo market grow this year.'
