According to local media reports, the incident occurred on board the Hong Kong-flagged 'LR2 Poseidon' while she was under repair. The vessel is owned by South Korea's Hong Kong-based Cido Shipping and arrived at Tuzla from Malta on January 22.

It is thought that the explosion occurred in the ship's boiler room on the afternoon of January 28, London's Tanker Operator reported.
