    BIMCO opens in Singapore, sharing space with Baltic Exchange

    INTERNATIONAL shipping association, the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), has opened a new office in Singapore to be shared with staff from the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, creating what BIMCO called “a small hub of maritime organisations in the area".

    BIMCO opens in Singapore, sharing space with Baltic Exchange INTERNATIONAL shipping association, the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), has opened a new office in Singapore to be shared with staff from the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, creating what BIMCO called “a small hub of maritime organisations in the area". “With offices in both Shanghai and Singapore we look forward to improving our services to members and to working in closer collaboration with the other maritime associations in the region," said BIMCO Secretary General Angus Frew. The office will be headed by Maite Bolivar Klarup, formerly head of communication for Thome Ship Management in Singapore, reported American Shipper.  Denmark-based BIMCO has 2,200 members across 130 countries. Its members include shipowners, vessel operators, managers, brokers and agents.
