Berge Bulk sells its ultramax bulk carrier Berge Tateyama for $34.25 million to a Turkish shipowner, highlighting strong demand in the market.

Singapore-based Berge Bulk has sold its 63,500 dwt ultramax bulk carrier, Berge Tateyama, for approximately $34.25 million. The buyer of the vessel has not been officially disclosed, but according to maritime sources, it has been purchased by a Turkish shipowner, and the vessel has set sail towards Turkey.

It has been reported that the ship is currently operating under the British flag and has been serving on important routes in international maritime transportation.

    Vessel: Berge Tateyama

    DWT: 63,500

Year of construction: 2020 (Japan Shin Kasado)

    Price: $34.25 million

    Buyer: Unnamed Turkish shipowner

Market commentary suggests that despite the uncertainty in the second-hand bulk carrier market, demand for modern and high-quality ultramax tonnage remains strong.

The sale indicates that Turkish shipowners continue to make purchases, particularly of Japanese-built and younger bulk carriers. It is noted that with the tonnage arriving in Turkey, it could be utilized in regional trade routes or the international spot market.
