On Aug 5, 2018, the 'Trias Obelix', 1504 ts (EU-No.: 02317712), ran aground around 11 a.m. on the Waal near the railway bridge in Nijmegen. The ship was underway to Schmehausen with a cargo of coal and had left port just at 10.40 a.m. Possibly it was too heavy loaded for the low water level of the river. It suffered water ingress and was threatened to sink. Rescue forces tried to dewater the ship. The barge 'Anroma' (MMSI: 244660723) went alongside to stabilize it. Rijkswaterstaat secured the site.
