BAHRAIN Airport Company (BAC) recently showcased its ongoing improvements at Bahrain International Airport's (BIA) cargo facilities at the Air Cargo China 2018 trade fair

BAHRAIN Airport Company (BAC) recently showcased its ongoing improvements at Bahrain International Airport's (BIA) cargo facilities at the Air Cargo China 2018 trade fair. The expansion, which is part of the Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP), will further increase BIA's cargo capacity and enable it to serve very high volumes relative to its size, reported the Bahrain News Agency.

The event provided a platform for participants to network, explore opportunities for collaboration, and discuss current developments shaping Asia's air freight market.

Said delegation chief Ayman Zainal: 'BIA is taking significant steps to overhaul its infrastructure and expand its capacity in this important area.

'Last year, BIA witnessed a 10 per cent surge in air cargo traffic and we expect this figure to grow considerably once the new Passenger Terminal Building opens,' said Mr Zainal, also BAC's chief commercial officer.

The current cargo terminal at BIA operates around the clock and can accommodate 19,000 square metres of goods, including export and transshipment goods, and cargo transported between the airport and customs clearance.
