At least 18 attacks on commercial vessels reported in the Strait of Hormuz this month, with four incidents occurring on October 11 alone.

Attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz continue. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has released a new notification regarding four attacks that occurred on October 11. With the recent incidents, the number of reported attacks in and around the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of October has reached at least 18.

Three tankers and one container ship were targeted.

According to the incident reports later published by UKMTO, three tankers and one container ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz were attacked on October 11.

It was reported that a container ship entering the strait was struck by unidentified munitions. No detailed information was shared regarding the damage to the vessel and the condition of the crew.

On the same day, a crude oil tanker and a petroleum products tanker exiting the strait were also targeted by unidentified munitions.

In another tanker attack, it was stated that the vessel was hit, but the crew was safe.

Iran announced it struck the AL MAQAM tanker.

The Tasnim News Agency, close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed that a tanker alleged to have passed through the Strait of Hormuz without Iran's permission was hit.

In the released footage, traces of fire were found on the stack section of the Liberia-flagged very large crude carrier (VLCC) named AL MAQAM, and a tugboat was seen responding to the fire on the vessel.

According to Pole Star Global data, AL MAQAM is owned and operated by ADNOC Logistics & Services, based in the United Arab Emirates.

No statement has yet been made by ADNOC Logistics & Services regarding the attack claim.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the alleged attack on AL MAQAM is one of the four incidents reported by UKMTO for October 11.

At least 18 attacks reported in October.

According to UKMTO records, at least 18 attack notifications have been made against commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of October.

While the majority of the attacks have targeted tankers, it has been reported that a container ship was also struck in recent incidents.

Due to major container shipping companies avoiding transits through the Strait of Hormuz, container ship traffic in the region remains limited. However, some smaller feeder vessels continue to transit through the strait.

While Iran claims to target commercial vessels passing through the strait without its permission, UKMTO continues to issue security notifications regarding incidents in the region.
