SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday were flat at US$810 per TEU, while the Shanghai-Mediterranean rates soared 14.6 per cent to $974 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI). The SCFI fell 7.2 per cent on the Shanghai-US west coast leg to $1,474 per FEU while China-US east coast rates fell 5.2 per cent remained unchanged at $2,660 per FEU.
