Asia-Europe rate down 5.9pc to US$723/TEU - $1,340/FEU to USWC

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday was down 5.9 per cent to US$723 per TEU, off 27 per cent since the start of the year, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI). Asia-Mediterranean rates fell 4.1 per cent to $696 per TEU, down 30 per cent since January 1.

Transpacific rates were down 7.1 per cent to $1,340 per FEU for Asia to US west coast, and off $4.2 per cent on the week, to $2,597 to the US east coast.
