Aqaba Container Terminal has handled its millionth TEU, enhancing its status as a key logistics hub in the region.
Aqaba Container Terminal has celebrated the handling of its millionth TEU, reinforcing its position as a vital regional logistics hub, as reported by Jakarta's ISL Media.
The milestone was commemorated with the presence of senior officials, including the Chief Commissioner of ASEZA, the Governor of Aqaba, and executives from the Aqaba Development Corporation and Customs. The terminal stated that this achievement reflects its operational excellence and leadership in regional maritime logistics.
ACT attributed its success to infrastructure upgrades, advanced equipment, and a strong focus on sustainability. The use of environmentally friendly machinery has enhanced efficiency while promoting resource preservation. Additionally, the importance of human capital was emphasized, with significant investments made in training and developing national talent.
Container volumes increased by 22 percent compared to 2022, with the terminal attracting 602 vessels, up from 494 the previous year. Truck turnover also saw improvements, aided by integrated systems that streamlined scheduling and customs procedures, thereby reducing waiting times and enhancing customer satisfaction.
CEO Harald Nijhof remarked that reaching one million TEU is a testament to ACT's commitment to innovation, investment in people, and sustainable technologies. He highlighted that strong partnerships with government and stakeholders are crucial for long-term success.
ACT reiterated that this milestone reaffirms its dedication to growth, efficiency, safety, and customer service, ultimately supporting Jordan's economic competitiveness in transport and logistics.
