Erol Karcı faces defamation charges after allegedly filing false drug reports about international ships, disturbing public peace.

Erol Karcı, who allegedly made multiple reports about the presence of drugs on international ships and subsequently filed complaints against public officials through CİMER after no criminal evidence was found during inspections, has been detained. After his statement was taken by the prosecutor's office, Karcı was referred to the Magistrate's Court with a request for judicial control.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Fethiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Erol Karcı was detained on August 20, 2026. It has been learned that the investigation is being carried out under accusations of 'insult,' 'disturbing the peace and tranquility of individuals,' and 'defamation.'

It was stated that Karcı's statement was taken via SEGBİS by the Fethiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 21, and after the completion of the procedures, he was referred to the Magistrate's Court with a request for the application of judicial control measures.

DRUG REPORTS ON SHIPS AT THE CENTER OF THE INVESTIGATION

One of the notable aspects of the investigation is the allegations that Karcı made regarding drug reports about certain international ships.

According to the information obtained, it is claimed that Karcı reported drug trafficking on some international ships on different dates. Following these reports, it was alleged that the Customs Enforcement, Coast Guard, Port Authority, and other relevant public institutions conducted searches and inspections on the ships.

However, it was claimed that no drugs or any criminal evidence to confirm the reports were found during the inspections.

It has been learned that the prosecutor's office is investigating the basis and reasons for the reports in question and whether the reports are false.

THIS TIME, PUBLIC OFFICIALS WERE REPORTED TO CİMER

Another striking claim in the case file is the developments that occurred after the searches conducted on the ships.

According to the allegation, Karcı filed complaints through CİMER against the Customs Enforcement, Coast Guard, Port Authority, and other public officials who conducted searches on the ships based on his reports.

It was alleged that the complaints claimed that the public officials did not perform their duties properly.

The prosecutor's office is also said to be investigating the connection between the public officials who acted upon the reports and were later the subject of complaints.

    INTERNATIONAL MARITIME DIMENSION

Another aspect of the investigation involves allegations regarding the inspection of foreign or internationally sailing ships under suspicion of drug-related activities.

It is assessed that if it is determined that actions were taken against the ships based on false accusations, this could have consequences not only from a domestic legal perspective but also in terms of international maritime activities.

In particular, the inspections carried out based on reports that foreign-flagged ships were involved in drug trafficking are being evaluated in terms of the potential consequences for shipowners, operators, and international maritime circles, depending on the nature and accuracy of the reports.

    WHO IS EROL KARCI?

Erol Karcı is associated with KRC Yachting, which operates in the maritime and yacht sector. KRC Yachting is seen to be active in the sector with yacht and superyacht projects.

Karcı's name had also come to the forefront in 2026, especially through sectoral discussions surrounding the superyacht named Lady Luna. While KRC Yachting's claims regarding the project and trademark rights of Lady Luna were made public, there were also objections from the other side to these claims.

Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the current investigation within the framework of concrete reports and complaints addressed by the prosecutor's office, separately from Karcı's activities in the maritime sector.

    WAITING FOR THE JUDICIAL DECISION

After Erol Karcı's statement was taken by the prosecutor's office and he was referred to the Magistrate's Court with a request for judicial control, attention has turned to the court's decision.

It has been learned that the investigation is ongoing regarding the content of the reports about the ships, the findings obtained during the searches, the CİMER applications made against public officials, and whether there is a connection between these actions.

There is currently no finalized conviction against Erol Karcı. The allegations and accusations directed at him within the scope of the investigation will gain certainty as a result of the evaluation by the judicial authorities.
