RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Zurich-based Unilode Aviation Solutions have deepened their unit load device (ULD) management partnership with the rollout of the world's first digitised main deck containers

RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Zurich-based Unilode Aviation Solutions have deepened their unit load device (ULD) management partnership with the rollout of the world's first digitised main deck containers. The containers, which are manufactured by Holmestrand-based Nordisk Aviation Products, 75 miles south of Oslo, have been designed using the latest technology in fire barriers for aviation and are equipped with a Transmitting Portable Electronic Device (TPEDs) based on Unilode's Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) technology.

The containers enable to track the location of the ULD and the cargo being carried in the container, providing transmit status updates on various parameters such as temperature, humidity, shock and light.

Said AirBridgeCargo general director Sergey Lazarev: 'This technology tightly aligns with customer expectations, especially when it comes to pharmaceuticals, perishables and valuables.'

Said Unilode CEO Benoit Dumont: 'The rollout is progressing according to our plans and all the benefits will soon be enjoyed by both Unilode and its customers.'
