The EGE M cargo ship safely anchored in Ahırkapı after a steering malfunction in the Istanbul Strait, with oversight from Coastal Safety teams.
The cargo ship EGE M experienced a steering failure while transiting the Istanbul Strait. After resolving the issue, the vessel anchored safely at Ahırkapı Anchorage.
This Liberia-flagged vessel, measuring 190 meters in length, encountered the malfunction off the coast of Beşiktaş as it entered the strait from the Black Sea.
Following thorough inspections, the crew successfully rectified the steering issue independently, with assistance from Coastal Safety teams during the anchoring process.
Maritime traffic in the strait, which had been temporarily halted due to the incident, resumed normal operations after the vessel was safely anchored.
