A Panama-flagged commercial ship sank near Layoun, Western Sahara; all foreign crew members were rescued, according to Morocco's Transport Ministry.
The Moroccan Ministry of Transport reported that a Panama-flagged commercial vessel sank off the coast of the city of Layoun in the Western Sahara region of the country.
In a statement from the ministry, it was noted that the vessel was reported to have taken on water while heading towards the port of Layoun yesterday.
It was reported that the entire foreign crew on board the vessel was rescued before the sinking occurred.
The ship was noted to be carrying materials used in cement production.
The ministry expressed that it is coordinating with the relevant authorities to initiate an investigation into the causes of the incident.
