The Vietnamese-flagged Khoi Nguyen 18, measuring 69.9 meters in length and carrying 62 crew members, went down about 220 nautical miles east of Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. China dispatched six vessels and a helicopter, while seven Vietnamese ships joined the search.
Sansha maritime authorities stated that 41 rescued crew members had been transferred to Vietnamese ships, with four more to follow. A joint command system was established, led by the Chinese rescue vessel Nanhai Jiu 115, coordinating forces from both countries.
