Judging from the size and position of the vessel sailing without cargo, a salvage operation does not seem an impossible task for the contracted salvage company. The "Merle" has 10 tons of fuel and an amount lubricant oils on board. The risk of pollution is, for now, limited as the ship is stable in the sand. However, bad weather was expected again. Staff was ready to intervene.in case of a pollution. The investigation, including interrogation of the six crew members, is still ongoing.
