THE Clarkson Hellas report has noted a third firm order placed for 18,000 TEU containerships from Hong Kong Asset Management to Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine (DSME).

It is understood, said the report, conveyed via New York's MarineLink, the order are on the back of charters to Geneva's Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC). The ship price is said to be US$140.5 million with delivery from early 2015.

Also understood to be for charter to MSC, is the China's Bank of Communications Financial Leasing outlay for firm orders for six 9,400-TEU ships.

Four of these ships are to be built at Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding and the remaining two at Jiangnan Shipyard. Delivery is due from 2015 onwards with pricing in the region of US$82 million.
