The 'Aquarius' was headed to Valencia with 106 people remaining on board on June 14, ETA June 16. 523 migrants were disembarked on a ship of the Italian Coastguard and another of the navy the previous evening and taken to Spain too after Italy refused the rescue. Still aboard were 51 women, 45 men and 10 children, some of them in need of medical care due to injuries suffered on their flight. Two men had hidden in waste containers in fear of being taken back to Libya. Many of the migrants were seasick. The 'Aquarius' was in need of supplies and requested such by the Italian MRCC.
