The 'Akson Sara' suffered a problem with the water jacket on a cylinder head in the main engine 47 nautical miles from Lowestoft, in 52 38 N 02 58 E, at 8.28 a.m. on Jan 13, 2018. The crew commenced repairs, on completion of the work and following tests of its engines, the vessel proceeded at 451 p.m. The bulkcarrier was en route from Mukran to Conakry, Guinea, carrying 35.200 metric tonnes of wheat. It had a crew of 23 on board. The vessel was also carrying 597 metric tonnes of heavy fuel oil, 75.5 metric tonnes of low sulphur marine gas oil and 32,700 litres of lube oil on board. Weather on scene was SE winds of 4-5 Beaufort scale 4 or 5 with a slight to moderate swell.
