The "Apollo" while she was heading to Blanc Sablon from Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula was stuck in ice. The ferry left Newfoundland on Apr 13 around 7 a.m., but mechanical issues with the icebreaker that was clearing a path meant the ferry could go no further. She spent more than 30 hours stuck by noon on Apr 14, and 70 passengers were on board. The "Henry Larsen" was providing assistance by 11:30 a.m. to allow the "Apollo" to dock at Blanc Sablon.
