UAE: Drydocks World Hands Over Newbuild Platform to AFCONS Infrastructure

Drydocks World, the established international player in ship repair, conversion and new building announced today that it has delivered Self Elevating Platform Samrat to the owner, Mumbai, India-based AFCONS Infrastructure. The Platform was built at Drydocks World – Dubai shipyard.

Drydocks World, the established international player in ship repair, conversion and new building announced today that it has delivered Self Elevating Platform Samrat to the owner, Mumbai, India-based AFCONS Infrastructure. The Platform was built at Drydocks World – Dubai shipyard.

The Self Elevating Platform is intended for use for construction and maintenance of port jetties, geo surveys with an option of mounting drills, piling operations and pile load testing. The applications are also being looked at a diversified field of oil and gas for the repair and maintenance of offshore platforms and well heads.

A high standard of safety, quality and environmental management is involved in all our operations,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.

The Platform is 45 metres long and 25 metres wide having the gross tonnage is 1557. The scope of work at the yard involved detailed engineering, procurement and construction. The Platform is constructed with four Spud legs each 60 metres long.

It can be jacked up with four spuds and a jacking system and has an elevated weight of 2928 tonnes approximately. It is equipped with a MANITOWOC crane, six mooring winches, two gen sets and three engines, which provide power to the hydraulic systems.
