THE 12th International Naval Engineering Conference and Exhibition (INEC 2014) will be held at the Marine Establishment Amsterdam from May 20-22 under the theme of "innovative solutions to global trends".
The event is being organised by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) in association with the Royal Netherlands Navy, and BMT Defence Services is the main sponsor.
INEC includes keynote addresses by admirals the Dutch and British navies. In addition, a networking and industrial visit programme has been organised for the conference, with HNLMS Tromp, an air-defence and command frigate (LCF), at its heart.
Conference chairman Commodore John Newell, of the British Ministry of Defence, said: "Navies and the international defence industry have risen to the challenge set by INEC 2014 and a truly inspiring programme has been developed by the Technical Advisory Committee with speakers coming from Australia, Austria, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Sweden, UK and the US.
"The themes of the technical programme address the topics which most affect the maritime operating environment and require the best that our engineers and industry can provide whilst, of course, remaining within tight financial restraints," said Cdre Newell.
