Big Names Sign Up for RORO Exhibition (Sweden)

With this year’s RORO event approaching, a number of the rolling cargo industry’s biggest players have announced that they will be heading to this year’s event to plan for the future.

This year’s event has already attracted some of Europe’s leading names in the ro-ro industry, DFDS Seaways, NORTH SEA RoRo, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, TTS, Terberg, MAFI Transport System, Goteburg Truck System and Stena RoRo have all announced that they will be demonstrating their current and future capabilities at the RORO exhibition in Gothenburg.

However, with some big changes on the horizon, including the European Commision’s proposals to reduce the affect the shipping industry has on the environment, business deals at RORO will extend far beyond simply the shipment of cargo.

It’s a common consensus that the ro-ro industry must invest in innovative solutions to reduce emission levels. Cargo owners are looking for the greenest shipping lines and those that do not revolutionise their operations will simply fall behind the competition.

Wärtsilä, the world’s leader in diesel and natural gas engines, and propulsion systems, has recently become the latest ‘green’ technology provider to use RORO as their platform to meet the industry and present their environmental initiatives.

By offering solutions that maximise the environmental and economic performance of vessels, the company’s stand will welcome shipping lines looking at cost effective ways of reducing their impact on the environment.

Whilst many companies choose exhibitions as a way to showcase services to cargo owners, a number also use them as a platform to talk to catch up with contacts and learn about the latest developments in the industry as Sys Gram, FSS Web and Marketing Coordinator at DFDS Seaways, explains:

“We have chosen to exhibit at RORO this year as it gives us an opportunity to meet with many of our customers and learn about latest developments within their businesses and our industry. We furthermore value the opportunity to meet old and new friends within the ro-ro industry and to keep ourselves up-to-date and alert to new opportunities.”

RORO is Europe’s largest event dedicated to the ro-ro industry and takes place in Gothenburg from 22-24 May 2012. In addition to browsing the latest innovations on the exhibition floor, visitors hear the latest market information and ideas at the free-to-attend conference sessions, which will feature presentations from Scandlines Deutschland, TTS Group ASA, MDS Transmodal, the Port of Gothenburg, The Clean Shipping Project and Stena RoRo.
