Zim introduces CGX Service in New Orleans, serving Asia via Kingston hub
ISRAELI flag carrier Zim has made the Port of New Orleans is latest destination on its CGX Service, covering Central America and the Caribbean, and serving Asian cargo through its transshipment hub in Kingston, Jamaica.
"We are thrilled to welcome Zim to the Port of New Orleans," said port CEO Gary LaGrange. "This service will enhance options for shippers and importers not only for Central America and the Caribbean markets, but via Zim's global network, which increases the port's competitive transit times to Asia and the rest of the world."
The CGX service serves all major trade routes, including Asia through its Kingston hub and will now dock at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal, reports the Massachusetts based American Journal of Transportation.
Said Zim Americas chief Lea Bogatch-Genossar: "We realised that within the Gulf's destinations and origins, each port has its uniqueness and appeal to the market. Our CGX service is the solution, especially for refrigerated and project cargo."
Haifa-based ZIM employs five containerships in the CGX service. The company sails 101 vessels in its fleet with an aggregate 337,000 TEU and has a presence in 120 countries.
