Xiaomi Corp will recall about 117,000 SU7 electric sedans in China due to safety concerns in its driver-assistance system, marking its largest recall since the model's launch last year, reported Caixin.
The recall affects SU7 vehicles manufactured before August 30, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation. It accounts for roughly one-third of the model's total sales since its debut in March 2024.
xiaomi will deploy an over-the-air software update to address the issue, avoiding the need for physical parts replacement. Regulators warned the system may fail to respond correctly in 'extreme scenarios' when highway navigation assist is active.
The SU7 standard variant supports highway assistance but lacks urban navigation capabilities. In March, a fatal crash involving the model killed three people after the vehicle collided at high speed while driver-assist remained engaged seconds before impact.
