ON April 5, the Hai Phong People's Committee, in partnership with Hateco Group, officially inaugurated the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HHIT) at Lach Huyen Port, reports Dhaka's Business Standard.
This milestone marks one of Vietnam's most advanced deep-water port infrastructure projects to be fully financed by private investment.
During the inauguration ceremony, participants commended the rapid development of the HHIT project and the successful collaboration between Hateco and global shipping leader Maersk.
The partnership is expected to play a key role in strengthening trade and cultural links between Europe and Vietnam.
Situated on a 73-hectare site, HHIT features a 900-metre-long quay with water depths ranging from -16.8 to -18.4 metres, enabling it to handle two ultra-large container vessels of up to 200,000 DWT (equivalent to greater than or equal to 18,000 TEU) and up to 400 metres in length.
The launch of this terminal marks a significant advancement for Vietnam's maritime industry, enhancing international trade capabilities and contributing to economic growth in the northern region and nationwide.
