A video posted this week on YouTube shows the new Disney Dream drifting very close to Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas. But the cruise lines say there was never a danger of a collision.
The incident happened at Florida's Port Canaveral on Jan. 17, just two days before the 130,000-ton Dream, Disney's first new ship in 10 years and largest ever, was christened by Grammy Award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson.
"Monarch of the Seas was anchored and the Disney ship casted off and drifted close to our vessel," says Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez.
The Monarch passenger who shot the video says passengers were bracing for a bump.
But Disney spokeswoman Christi Erwin tells AOL Travel News the Dream was under the control of its captain the entire time, and the ships were never closer than 20 or 30 feet.
