US seize North Korean tanker Morning Glory at Cypriot, Libyan request
THE US Navy seized the North Korean tanker Morning Glory in the Mediterranean, southeast of Cyprus for carrying crude oil taken from a Libyan rebel held-oil facility, the property of the state-oiled petroleum concern.
US Navy SEALs boarded and took command of the 33,583 dwt tanker, according to the US Defence Department, which added that the seizure was done at the request of Libyan and Cypriot governments, reported American Shipper.
Rear Admiral John Kirby said tanker was to sail back to a Libyan government controlled port with a crew of American sailors from the USS Stout ensuring it got there.
