Ukraine and Turkey have reached agreement on creation of a strategic high-level council.
A joint declaration on creation of this council was signed by President Viktor Yanukovych and Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The joint declaration was signed upon completion of bilateral talks.
Thus, the two sides signed a programme for realisation of their intentions to cooperate in the areas of technical regulation, standardization, metrology, assessment of conformance, and protection of consumer rights in 2011 and 2012.
The head of state's press service has reported, the strategic council will work out proposals to the strategy and the basic lines of relations between the two countries, coordinate implementation of projects for cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
The President of Ukraine will head the commission from the Ukrainian part, the Prime Minister of Turkey from the Turkish part.
It will convoke sessions once a year by turn in Ukraine and Turkey.
Apart from this, a joint strategic planning group for discussing key aspects will be set up within the framework of the council, chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers, which will convene meetings at least once a year.
