ISTANBUL-based Yilport Holding has won the 20-year concession, with a 10-year extension to operate Oslo's Sjursoya Container Terminal.
Yilport Holding, part of the Yildrim Group active in mining, fertilisers and shipbuilding, beat four other bidders to the Port of Oslo contract.
"Our intention is to assume control at the end of the year, but it is essential we see improved results in customer service and productivity from day one." said Yilport's Sean Pierce.
"We have global agreements with Navis for the TOS and APS Technologies for our gate automation and crane OCR systems and it is our intention to deploy these systems from day one of the handover," he said.
"In addition, we will integrate all of our solutions with the new RTGs and support equipment that the port authority has already ordered and which are due for delivery at the end of 2014," said Mr Pierce.
Said Oslo port director Anne Sigrid Hamran: "As the port authority. we want Oslo to be a competitive and efficient and receive by sea twice as much cargo to serve the ever-growing Oslo area."
In April, Yilport Holding took over the majority of shares in the Swedish Gavle Container Terminal (GCT). Combined with the facility in Oslo, Yilport Holding operates now a total of six container terminals (three in Turkey, one on Malta and the GCT. From 2015, the company will also run a kombi terminal in Sweden, the Stockholm Nord, situated in Rosersberg.
