According to the preliminary statistics provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in June this year Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.5 million metric tons, increasing by 2.05 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $1.306 billion, up by 23.06 percent compared to June last year.
As compared to May this year, Turkey's steel product export volume in June fell by 3.24 percent, while the revenue from steel product exports decreased by 2.32 percent.
In June, rebar exports accounted for 32.38 percent of the country's total steel product exports, while section exports constituted 8.91 percent, exports of steel billet made up 20.32 percent, exports of pipes and fittings constituted 9.26 percent, wire rod exports accounted for 5.06 percent and flat steel exports for 15.91 percent.
On the other hand, in the first half of this year, the country's total steel product exports reached 9.3 million metric tons, while the revenue generated by these exports amounted to $7.75 billion, increasing by 10.49 percent and 32.63 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
In H1 this year, Turkey's steel product exports to the Middle East, its largest market for steel exports, amounted to 3.22 million metric tons, decreasing by 6.40 percent year on year, totaling a value of $2.37 billion, up 10.26 percent year on year. Turkey's steel product exports to the EU-27 during the period came to 2.21 million metric tons, up 117.57 percent year on year, with a value of $2.13 billion - up 125.76 percent. Exports to North Africa amounted to 547,225 metric tons, up 18.98 percent year on year, with a value of $428 million, 51.42 percent higher than in January-June 2010.
