Truck ban prompts Hapag-Lloyd to levy Manila import congestion charge
A TRUCK ban in Manila has prompted Germany's Hapag-Lloyd to levy US$100 per TEU congestion surcharge on all imports into Manila, said the shipping line's notice to trade.
"The truck ban continues, resulting in additional operational costs," said the Hapag-Lloyd statement.
Cargo mostly affected come from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Pacific Ports of Vladivostok and Vostochny, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Brunei, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, Qatar and Yemen.
