On July 30, 2018, the Ecuadorian Navy coordinated the rescue of four crew members of the 'Galajet' which was wrecked while sailing from Galapagos to Guayaquil for repair work. The ship sailed on July 27 at 10:55 a.m. from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno for an engine maintenance. The arrival was scheduled for July 30 at 6:00 p.m. After the crew issued a mayday call, a Coastguard launch was sent to the site. The sailors contacted the vessel 'Fusion 2', which was three miles away and with which it coordinated the rescue operation. On June 30 at 1:00 p.m. the crew was saved 60 nautical miles from Salinas.
