While the "Stavo" remained berthed at the oil quay at the Donaulände in Vienna on Feb 8, the master and owner were facing salvage costs in an amount of some 100.000 Euro and other consequences. The Donau Service was investigating regarding environmental damages after it became known that a pipe on the barge had ruptured and an unknown amount of oil spilled into the Danube. The Hungarian master who was found to have been intoxicated will be prosecuted and his certificate as master withdrawn temporarily.
