Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) awarded the contract to Van Oord in 2015 and the work was completed eight months ahead of schedule, creating 250 hectares of new land for the Kaohsiung Intercontinental Container Centre Phase II, Port Technology of London reported.
Each day, around 150 vessels pass through Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, where more than 10 million containers are transshipped each year.
Martin Meijers, Van Oord's Area Manager, said: "The availability of the right equipment at the right moment and excellent cooperation within the internationally assembled project team contributed to the early completion and overall success of this project.
"It was the first time Van Oord had been engaged as a main contractor in Taiwan."
