TAIWAN's China Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC) expects to receive orders for ten 3,000-TEU ships for Hong Kong's TS Lines and four 1,800-TEUers for Taipei's Evergreen Marine in July.
The orders value a total of TWD15 billion (US$485 million), said CSBC general manager Chen Feng-lin, reports IHS Maritime 360.
Although CSBC's current price for a 3,000-TEU ship is set at $35 million each, the actual price of the box ships ordered by Evergreen could be higher because the carrier has higher standard requirements, said Mr Chen.
CSBC has completed negotiations with TS Lines, and the shipbuilder expects the Hong Kong carrier to place its order earlier than Evergreen, said Mr Chen.
Shanghai's SITC Container Line has also expressed its intention to place new orders at CBSC, following the delivery of one of twelve 1,800-TEU ships it ordered at CSBC.
