Strong winds make the work at the 'Makassar Highway' difficult on July 28. During the night iwind speeds reached ten seconds per meter. The wind pressure has listed the grounded vessel about 20 degrees, which led to an unknown amount of oil leaking out. The oil spill has been limited by the surrounding booms, and the oil was recovered by the Coast Guard units on scene. No islands in the immediate area were at risk of an oil spill at this time. Specially equipped aircraft were monitoring the sea and investigated from which tank the oil came from. The Coast Guard continued to strengthen its resources in the form of ships, aircraft, personnel and environmental protection equipment. The car carrier was surrounded by both oil booms and absorbent pads which were moved with the waves and needed to be maintained and adjusted continuously. Since July 27 there was a calculation expert on board to assess the stability. It were unclear when the required calculations woukd be finished. When all requirements have been met, the Transport Inspector's Inspector may decide that the salvage may go ahead. Swedish report with photos: https://www.kustbevakning...
