RAILWAY delivery delays have led to a shortage of fuel oil at the Russian port of St Petersburg, according to sources.
'There is some shortage of product there mainly because of delays in deliveries due to the World Cup,' a supplier was cited as saying in a report by S&P Global Platts, London. 'There has been no formal notification of any restrictions even though they are expected but the railways are overloaded,' he said.
Delays in deliveries have mainly affected marine gas oil deliveries in the Russian Baltic port, a buyer said. Additionally, availability in the domestic market has been curbed by the ramping up of the bitumen season ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Bitumen will probably remain steady throughout the summer, sources said. In addition, prices have started strengthening, adding to the attractiveness of its production.
