INTRA-ASIA container shipping line and logistics company, SITC International Holdings, has placed an order for two more 2,400 TEU containerships, with each vessel costing US$29 million with China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery in September and November 2020.
The Hong Kong-headquartered Intra-Asia specialist SITC had initially placed an order for two similar vessels last year. At the beginning of this year it followed that order up by taking options on two more vessels with the shipyard, reported Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, UK.
The latest pair of newbuildings come at a higher price to the $25 million per vessel SITC paid with its previous order.
SITC said the newbuildings would 'enable the company to expand its self-owned fleet of container vessels to meet the increase in demand for the company's services.'
