Sinolines takes delivery of first of two 1,100 TEUers by Sinotrans yard
THE 1,100-TEU Sinotrans Qingdao has been assigned to Sinotrans Container Lines' (Sinolines) Shanghai-Kanto service (SJ1/SJ2) that comprises two alternating loops connecting Shanghai to Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya, reports Alphaliner.
The newbuilding is the first of two identical ships to be delivered that were contracted at a record low price of US$18 million each for ships of this size.
They were ordered in June 2011 by Sinotrans from its wholly-owned subsidiary, the Qingshan Wuhan Shipyard. The shipyard has already built several ships in the same 'CV 1100' design.
Delivery of the two newbuildings has been delayed by eight months as they were originally scheduled for delivery in November and December.
