PRELIMINARY statistics released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) show that container throughput at the Lion City's port dipped by 2.8 per cent to 2.74 million TEU in February compared to the same month last year.
February throughput was also lower on a month-on-month comparison with January registering 3 million TEU.
In the first two months of this year, Singapore recorded a total throughput of 5.74 million TEU, inching down 1.4 per cent compared to 5.82 million TEU posted in the previous corresponding period.
In 2018, Singapore moved a record high throughput of 36.6 million TEU, up from 33.67 million TEU seen in 2017, reports Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, UK.
