GAC EnvironHull's eco-friendly hull cleaning system, HullWiper, a remotely operated machine able to clean hulls without brush wielding divers, is coming to the Port of Singapore.
It is now being offered to vessels in Singapore, through GAC partner T&T Salvage, which will be the exclusive service provider for HullWiper in the Lion City and Malaysia.
The system entered the market 18 months ago and is used in the Middle East and Sweden.
"We see great potential for our hull cleaning solution in this part of the world, and our eco-friendly solution dovetails neatly with the country's Maritime Green Initiative," said GAC vice president Christer Sjodof.
Mr Sjodof said Hullwiper can clean up to 2,000 square metres of hull per hour without causing damage to anti-fouling surfaces.
Cleaning can also be done alongside during loading or discharging operations in half the time of conventional cleaning methods. Residues and harmful marine growths captured during cleaning are disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner instead of being discharged into the sea.
