SINGAPORE Airlines Cargo's freight volumes in June dropped by 0.9 per cent year on year to 99,800 tonnes. As measured in freight tonne-kilometres, SIA Cargo's freight traffic was down 2.4 per cent to 537.9 million FTKs.
At the same time, capacity increased by 1.6 per cent to total 937.9 million available freight tonne-km. As a result, the cargo load factor for June declined by 2.3 percentage points year on year to 57.4 per cent, reported London's Air Cargo News.
All route regions covered by SIA Cargo registered decreases in the cargo load factor apart from the Americas, which were up 2.1 percentage points compared to the same month a year earlier.
In May, SIA reported that its flown cargo revenue rose by 2.1 per cent in the 2018/19 financial year in spite of a 'softening trade environment' and a lower fourth quarter.
The S$45 million (US$33.03 million) increase in overall revenues for the year came on the back of a 5.7 per cent increase in yields, which offset a 3.5 per cent decline in loads carried, as measured in tonne-km.
