Ships urged to navigate with caution near intake culvert at Lok On Pai THE Hong Kong Marine Department has announced that marine works to construct a seawater intake culvert will be carried out over the next four months at Lok On Pai, Siu Lam.According to Notice No 90 posted on the government website, the area affected is bound by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates and the adjacent shoreline: (a) 22 deg. 21.725'N / 113 deg. 59.904'E; (b) 22 deg. 21.710'N / 113 deg. 59.887'E; (c) 22 deg. 21.722'N / 113 deg. 59.873'E; and (d) 22 deg. 21.736'N / 113 deg. 59.889'E.
The works are being carried out by a land-based excavator, and diving operations will be carried out from time to time in the area.
Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights have been put out to mark the boundary of the works area at co-ordinates (b) and (c).
The marine works are being conducted from 0800 hours to 1800 hours Mondays to Saturdays. Work will be halted on Sundays and public holidays.
