A second person has died after a line from the 'Ansac Splendor' snapped at the Port of Longview. Ping-Shan Li died at Southwest Washington Medical Center on June 29 after he was critically hurt the previous morning. Li, from China, was the chief mate of the 'Ansac Splendor'. He was 41 years old. His family has been notified. The vessel was moving to a loading hatch when the line, which is nearly two inches thick, snapped. Another man, the 34-year-old Bryan Jacobs, an International Longshore and Warehouse Union member and father to three kids, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other workers, a longshoreman and a security guard, were hurt but were expected to be okay. The accident remained under investigation.
