MAJOR ship charterer Seaspan Corporation has announced that it has accepted delivery of the 14,000-TEU YM Wellness.
Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, the vessel is New York-listed Seaspan's fifth 14,000-TEUer with the Saver design, and its sixth ship delivery this year.
The YM Wellness will commence a 10-year, fixed-rate time charter with Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. Yang Ming may extend the charter for an additional two years.
The ship is the fifth of eight 14,000-TEU Savers to be chartered to Yang Ming and expands Seaspan's operating fleet to 83 vessels.
Vancouver-headquartered, Hong Kong-administered Seaspan provides many of the world's major shipping lines with creative outsourcing alternatives to vessel ownership by offering long-term leases on large, modern containerships combined with industry leading ship management services.
Seaspan's managed fleet consists of 118 containerships totalling 935,000 TEU, including 22 newbuildings on order scheduled for delivery by the end of 2017.
